How to make a payment

Generally, you can pay for your policy by credit card or debit card, or by premium finance (subject to acceptance by the lender).

Payments by card

After you have made a card payment, the policy expert payment service provider (PSP), the company that processes payments on their behalf, will keep a record of your credit card or debit card details so that the company can use these details at a later date, for example:

  • To make a refund;
  • Take payment for extra insurance products you buy from.
  • To take payment following cancellation of your policy of any amount you owe.
  • To also take payment for any changes made to your policy midterm
  • Check your card is still valid for the next year’s payments at renewal; and
  • To take payment for the renewal of your policy.

If changes are made to how your card details are used, accordingly, the details of these changes will be forwarded to you via email.

Payment by Premium Finance

As a credit broker, policy expert insurance is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority. However, If you wish to pay your insurance premiums in monthly installments, they will act as your agent in assisting you in obtaining financing from a lender, subject to the lender’s approval of your loan application.

In this case, the policy expert will not charge you any fees or interest for this service but will get a commission from the lender. On the money you borrow, the lender will charge you interest. They may also charge you fees, which they describe in their agreement with you and included in the section below. However, if you choose premium finance to pay for your coverage in monthly installments. This means that the total cost of your coverage will be more than if you paid for it in full upfront.

The premium finance company will keep a record of your bank details.

Your first monthly payment may be different from the rest of your monthly payments. This is because the total amount you will pay cannot always be divided into equal monthly amounts.

If you miss any monthly payment, it might affect your credit rating, which may also mean it is difficult for you to get credit in the future.

If you do not keep up to date with your monthly payments, it will lead to the cancelation of your credit agreement. However, If this happened, you would need to pay for your insurance in one payment or cancel your policy.

How to renew your policy

If Policy Expert can continue to offer you insurance, before your policy expires, you will be notified via email, phone, or letter.

Your policy’s insurer does not guarantee to provide a renewal quote. If this is the case, Policy Expert will work with another insurer on their panel to get you coverage. If no other insurer can provide you with coverage, then you will get at least 14 days’ notice before your current policy expires.

However, If you did not renew your policy, it will end, and you will no longer have a cover.

Conclusion
